Baking Soda:

Baking soda is a great way to get rid of bad breath and enjoy some fresh breath. Use baking soda to brush your teeth. It will help in reducing the acidity in your mouth and will not allow bacteria to grow on your tongue. You can even gargle with baking soda dissolved in warm water. This will kill the bacteria causing odor inside your mouth. This is one of the easiest ways to handle bad breath at home.

Water:

Water is essential for keeping your breath fresh. After eating a meal, you must swish water around your mouth for a few seconds. This will loosen the food particles stuck inside your teeth and clean your mouth. A clean mouth is a less attractive place for bacteria to grow. Water also acts like a mouthwash and so you must drink one or two glass of water in between meals to stimulate saliva production.

Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil due to its antiseptic properties acts like a powerful disinfectant. You can use toothpaste containing tea tree oil. Else put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothbrush along with your regular toothpaste to brush your teeth. You can even make a mouthwash with tea tree oil, peppermint oil and lemon oil. Take tea tree oil, peppermint oil and lemon oil in equal amounts and mix it with a glass of water and use it as a mouthwash.

Fennel:

Fennel is a very common herb used in cooking. You can even use this herb with freshening qualities to get rid of bad breath. Take a spoon of fennel and slowly chew it until saliva is formed inside your mouth. This herb contains antimicrobial properties that can stop bad breath. Even chewing fennel seeds mixed with the seeds of other aromatic spices like clove and cardamom after eating odorous meals can also help a lot in controlling bad breath.

Parsley:

Parsley contains chlorophyll that can actually help in controlling bad breath. You can take handful of fresh parsley leaves and dip it in vinegar. Now chew it thoroughly for a minute or two. Else you can make juice of parsley leaves with the help of a juicer and you can sip this juice anytime you need to refresh your breath. Parsley leaves will also help in digestion as it helps in reducing the production of intestinal gas.

Tea:

Drinking tea can even help in controlling bad breath. The compound known as polyphenols found in both green and black tea can stop the growth of bacteria responsible for bad breath. You can opt for your normal cup of tea or make herbal tea with alfalfa. To make this herbal tea, put two teaspoons of dried alfalfa leaves in a cup of boiling water and steep for around fifteen minutes. You can drink this herbal tea several times a day to keep your breath fresh.

Cloves:

Cloves have powerful antiseptic property that can help a lot in getting rid of bad breath. The easiest method to control bad breath is to pop a few pieces of cloves into your mouth and chew them properly. This will eradicate bad breath in a few minutes. You can also make clove tea by putting three whole cloves in two cups of hot water and allow it to steep for twenty minutes, stirring from time to time. You can drink this tea or use it as a mouthwash twice a day.

Sage:

Sage contains essential oils with antibacterial properties that can eliminate the causes behind bad breath. Sage leaves can be chewed slowly to fight bad breath. Else you can make an herbal tea by putting one tablespoon of chopped sage into a glass of boiling water. Allow it steep for ten minutes and then drink it slowly. You can also mix the extracts of sage and calendula in equal proportions and add it to a glass of warm water. Now gargle with this solution several times a day.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Due to its acidic properties, apple cider vinegar makes a wonderful remedy for bad breath. Take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar diluted in a glass of water before eating a meal. The vinegar will help in digestion as well as cure bad breath. Also drink one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar after each meal. You can also gargle with apple cider vinegar mixed with a cup of water.

Lemon

Curing bad breath with a lemon rinse has been used for generations. The high acidic content in lemon will prevent the growth of bacteria on the tongue and gums. Mix one tablespoon of lemon juice to a cup of water and rinse your mouth properly. You can even make a mixture of salt, lemon and water to rinse your mouth before going to bed. This remedy will definitely cure bad breath within a few days.
