Top 10 Home Remedies for Rash Under Breasts

The redness and irritation of the skin under the breast is known as breast rash. The breast rashes can be itchy and are sometimes painful. In some people it shows worse symptoms like blisters and scaly appearance of the skin. Hot and humid conditions are the main triggers causing the rashes under breasts. In medical terms the rashes occurring in skin folds are known as Interigo. Breast rashes are common in women who are diabetic, overweight or who have large pendulous breasts or during pregnancy. Usually rash under the breast develop when the lower part of the breast rests on the chest and the skin on the chest traps moisture and perspiration. The moisture trapped area becomes the breeding ground of bacteria, fungus and other infections. The redness and itching in the area causes discomfort to the person and are embarrassing. There are several possible causes.

Cold Compresses

To get rid of a rash under the breasts you should apply cold compresses. Take some ice and wrap them in a thin cotton towel and then put it over the affected skin area for five to ten minutes at a time. Take a break and then repeat the process again. At the same tome a skim-milk and cold-water compress can provide relief from the itching and reduce the swelling that often happens when suffering from breast rash and also prevent infection. You should also try bathing with cold water as it will help in closing the pores of the skin. Closed pores means less sweating and thus it can effectively reduce the appearance of breast rash.

Cotton

The best way to deal with breast rash is to try to reduce the accumulation of sweat around the breast area. You can easily do it by placing a thin piece of cotton between the lower breast and the skin underneath to absorb moisture. You can also use the soft fluffy paper dinner napkins for absorbing the excess moisture around the breast area. At the same time it is highly recommended to wear light clothing preferably made of cotton or natural fibers. Such clothes are better as they help a lot to absorb the moisture and keep your body sweat free.

Cornstarch

Cornstarch is a highly effective ingredient that can be used to deal with the itching and burning sensation symptoms associated with a breast rash. First clean the affected skin area with soap and water, pat dry it properly with a towel. Once the area is completely dry, lightly dust cornstarch over it. Wait for ten minutes and then clean the area. Make sure not to apply cornstarch on moist or wet skin as it will increase the risk of fungal infection. Follow this remedy at least twice daily until you completely get rid of the problem.

Vinegar

At times the harsh chemical residue present on your clothes can also be the reason behind breast rash. You can solve this problem by washing all your clothes in a vinegar solution. Add a half cup of white vinegar in half bucket of hot water and use it to wash all your brassieres and finally dry the clothes in direct sunlight. Another option is to apply white or apple cider vinegar onto the irritated area. First wash the infected area with mild soapy water, rinse with cold water and pat dry it completely. Now take a small amount of vinegar into your palm and apply it to the infected area. Do this once daily, but if it causes discomfort, stop using vinegar.

Calamine Lotion

Calamine lotion when used on breast rash can also provide soothing relief from itching sensation. It will also fasten up the healing process. First clean the affected skin area with a mild soap and lukewarm water and pat dry the area with a towel. Now take a cotton ball soaked in calamine lotion and apply it gently over the affected skin area. Soon you will get relief from itchy and prickly feeling. At the same time calamine lotion will also help to keep the area dry and thus reduces the chances of infection. You must follow this remedy several times a day.

Garlic

A rash under the breast area can be easily treated with the antiseptic and antifungal properties present in garlic. Take eight to ten fresh garlic cloves and put them in a blender to make a fine paste out of it. Now soak a clean cotton ball into the garlic paste and apply it directly over the affected skin area. Follow this remedy three to four times a day to get rid of the problem quickly. Instead of garlic paste, you can also use garlic oil. At the same time you must increase the intake of garlic in raw or cooked form to fasten up the healing process.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has antifungal properties and hence it can also be used topically to treat breast rash. Take a cotton ball and dip it into tea tree oil and then apply it over the rash right after taking a shower, and again before going to bed. Massage the area gently so that the oil penetrates deep inside the skin and quickly cures the rash. At the same time tea tree oil will also prevent the growth of fungus and further infection. Usually within a few days you can notice positive result. If tea tree oil causes any kind of irritation, stop using it immediately.

Basil Leaves

Basil leaf is a wonderful herb with various medicinal properties. People often use basil leaves to get relief from itchy skin, rashes under the breasts and inflammation caused by mosquito bite or other insect bites. For treating a breast rash, take few basil leaves and crush them gently to make a paste. Now apply the paste on the affected skin area and allow it to dry for sometime before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Another option is to take few basil leaves, one tablespoon of olive oil, two to three garlic cloves, salt and pepper. Grind all the ingredients together to form a paste. Now apply the paste on the affected area and after ten minutes clean the area with cool water. This is one of the most popular ways to get rid of breast rash.

Lemon

Lemon juice contains Vitamin C, which is a powerful anti-oxidant and helps to prevent the growth of fungal infections. To treat a rash under breasts you can always rely on lemon juice. Take one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and dilute it with three tablespoon of water. Now apply this diluted lemon juice on the affected skin area after taking a bath and allow it to air dry. Repeat the process twice daily for maximum result. Another option is to mix two teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice with a pinch of salt and then apply it on to the skin. This will prevent the growth of infection and fasten up the healing process.

Turmeric

Turmeric has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and hence it can be used to get rid of rash under the breast area. Take turmeric powder and add some water or aloe vera juice to it to form a thick paste. Now apply this paste over the infected skin area and leave it for about half an hour. Finally rinse the area with lukewarm water. This will give you relief from the itching sensation. It is an effective way to treat a rash under the breast and it also prevents it from spreading.
